HUBUNGAN MENYIKAT GIGI DENGAN ABRASI GIGI DI RUMAH SAKIT UMUM DAERAH POSO
Abstract
Brushing teeth incorrectly can cause tooth roots to be exposed due to the displacement of the gingival margin bonds to the apical position of the cemento enamel junction which can result in tooth abrasion. One of the efforts to maintain dental and oral health that people can do to prevent tooth abrasion is brushing their teeth. Research objective: to determine the relationship between brushing teeth and the occurrence of tooth abrasion in patients visiting the Poso Regional Hospital Dental Clinic. Observational analytic with a cross sectional approach. The aspects studied were tooth brushing and tooth abrasion, data collection using questionnaires and direct examination of patients. The population of this study were patients aged 40-49 years who visited the Poso Regional Hospital Dental Polyclinic during 2021. Samples were taken using non-probability sampling with purposive sampling and analyzed using the person correlation test (Chi-Square Pearson). Based on the Pearson correlation test, the results obtained were: gender and tooth abrasion, the value of p=0,463, age and tooth abrasion, the value of p=0,080, and between tooth brushing and tooth abrasion, the value of p=0,017. There is a relationship between tooth brushing behavior and tooth abrasion with a value of p=0,017 (p≤0,05).
