The health of the mother before and during pregnancy is a key factor in determining the health of the baby to be born. One important aspect of maternal health is the hemoglobin level, which serves as an indicator of nutritional status and the overall health of the mother. Low hemoglobin levels can lead to anemia, which has the potential to cause various complications during pregnancy and childbirth, such as premature birth, low birth weight, and an increased risk of maternal and infant mortality. This study aims to determine the effect of preconception counseling on hemoglobin levels in the working area of the Kampili Public Health Center. Hemoglobin level is an important indicator in assessing maternal health status, particularly in preventing and managing anemia during pregnancy. The method used in this study is the chi-square (χ²) correlation test to determine the effect of preconception counseling on changes in hemoglobin levels. The analysis results show that the calculated χ² is 5.02470, while the χ² table value at 1 degree of freedom and a significance level of 0.05 is 3.481. Since the calculated χ² is greater than the χ² table value, the null hypothesis (Ho), which states that there is no effect of preconception counseling on hemoglobin levels, is rejected, and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted.
